Biography:
Ann Angel considers herself fortunate to have grown up reading novels by YA greats while listening to great rock and roll and blues. Her biography, Janis Joplin, Rise Up Singing, received the 2011 American Library Association's YALSA Excellence in Nonfiction Award and many others, as well as being named to numerous state reading lists. Previously, she edited Such a Pretty Face (Abrams, 2007), a collection of short stories about alternative perspectives of beauty by new and known writers. This anthology was followed up with a second anthology, Things I'll Never Say: Stories about Our Secret Selves (Candlewick). has written many biographies for educational markets. Angel received her MFA at Vermont College. She teaches at Mount Mary University in Milwaukee and writes writing prompts for teachers at Fromthemixedupfiles.com. When not teaching or writing, she hangs out with her giant horse of a dog and her growing family.
