Biography:
JoAnn Early Macken is the author of six picture books, including Grow (Astra Publishing House); Flip, Float, Fly: Seeds on the Move (Holiday House); and Waiting Out the Storm (Candlewick Press). She has also written more than 130 nonfiction books for beginning readers, and her poems appear in many magazines and anthologies. A graduate of the M.F.A. in Writing for Children and Young Adults program at Vermont College of Fine Arts, JoAnn has presented writing programs at schools, libraries, and conferences and taught at four Wisconsin colleges. Besides reading and writing, she enjoys walking with her dog Rosy, sewing with upcycled fabrics, paddling a canoe, and gardening with native plants. Visit her website at www.joannmacken.com
